To become more familiar with Adobe illustrator and InDesign I got an assignment to make a logo for myself (Logo #1). I learned a lot from the whole process and I also discovered that I like graphic design as well. Although I haven’t had enough time between school project to make more graphics for myself, I did get a request from a friend of mine to make a logo for him (Logo #2).
Logo #1
This logo is inspired by an east-Asian story about perseverance and determination. In this story a school of koi fish are swimming upstream gaining strength by fighting against the current. When they reach a waterfall at the end of the river, many of the koi turned back and let the flow of the river carry them away. The remaining koi refused to give up and kept trying to swim up the waterfall. Finally, one koi reached the top of the waterfall which caught the attention of the gods. The gods recognized the koi for its perseverance and determination and turned the koi into a dragon.

Logo #2 Sybren
For this logo I was commissioned to make a logo of a bear’s head in a geometric style. Below you can see all the different concepts I came up with. I showed these sketches to the client and he immediately was drawn to one concept. The chosen concept was good as it was, so all that was left to do was to draw it in Illustrator to finalize the concept and the job was done.
